ABOUT DEMOCRATIC SOCIALIST PARTY (DSP)

PARTY FLAG

The Democratic Socialist Party (DSP) is a simulated political party by Level 300 Political Communication GROUP 1 Class – GIJ.  It was formed in 2022 by a group of people who strive to challenge the status quo of governance and bring hope to the people of Ghana. The founders of the party include Priscilla Amoah, Matilda Tabri and Keziah Mensah. DSP aim for all citizens to share equally in economic resources as allocated by a democratically elected government. As a party, we believe that, people do not live or work in isolation, but in societies. We, therefore, seek to work to build up more businesses in the public sector, intended to promote development and the economy thereby securing a better quality of life for the nation.

VISION

We envision a world where all citizens of this great nation enjoy the fruits of their labour and are not deprived of what they truly deserve. All citizens must share equally in the national cake of the country. Diverse voices and views are sought, respected, and incorporated from the citizens. No opinions are left out.

MISSION

We believe in Quality Governance. Perfection may be unachievable, but peak excellence is our hallmark. Through thoughtful leadership, we accept criticisms, learn from past mistakes, undertake innovative projects, and adapt to the needs of the people based on evidence gained through thorough research.

WHAT WE STAND FOR

Our guiding principles spell out how we translate values of democracy into our work with one another and our partners to achieve our mission.

Cooperation and Partnership

We place priority on our partners worldwide as the centrepiece of our global mission and programming, as they are the experts on their own experience. We are open to working with all civic and political actors that support peaceful democratic change. Empowering them is the key for democracy and freedom to prevail as a socialist party. We are committed as individuals and collectively to collaborate collegially across geographies, expertise, and experiences toward achievement of our mission.

Equity and Inclusion

We strive to be fair and impartial in our activities, as we work to achieve what is best for the people.
In addition, DSP is committed to ensuring that diversity, equity, and inclusion are reflected in all aspects of the party’s work, including in the delivery or execution of DSP’s public facing events such as panels, webinars, town hall meetings and international delegations.

DSP also will proactively seek to engage and include members of marginalized or impacted groups whose life experiences would add value to topical discussion, so their voices are included and amplified as part of our work.

PARTY LOGO

We chose a raised fist for our logo because it represents strength, hope, action, and unity. All hands are not equal, and as the saying goes, unity is much more valuable than a thousand coins. The raised fist, therefore, represents that even in our diversity, we have come together to present a strong and united social front. By working together, we can effectively build Ghana in unity and strength. We seek a classless society; all are welcome to stand with us and build this country with us.

COLOURS OF THE PARTY

Our colours are a combination of red, white, and green.

Red is often used to portray seriousness and a call to Action.  We intend to act effectively on the glaring issues of our nation and achieve result-oriented solutions.

White mostly represents victory, purity, goodness, and sincerity. DSP is all of these, and as we work through honesty and goodness, with the support of the people, we will emerge victorious as a nation.

Green often signifies life, renewal, growth, harmony and restoration. We seek to restore this country back to the glory days of economic and manufacturing power it achieved during the first republic. We seek to better lives, create pathways for growth, of the people and restore hope to the nation again.

 PARTY SLOGAN

DSP has three slogans. It includes;

Action: This slogan serves as a call to action, our country calls for change, the people call for change, and we intend to act on those calls and rescue our nation.

Hope for Change: This is our second slogan. Despite the hardship in the country, it is to remind the people not to give up their hope for change, and to keep striving to help free this country from economic shackles and truly make Ghana an independent nation.

Aaaya…Worsh3: This is our third slogan, and it is in the Ga language. It translates as ‘they are going, but we are already there.’ This is to portray that as others stumble around in the dark, we already have our objectives and are tirelessly working to achieve them.
