The Democratic Socialist Party (DSP), in collaboration with the National Blood Service, Ghana, has organized a blood donation exercise for the public. The exercise which was under the theme "Donate blood to save lives", was organised at the forecourt of Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) Ringway campus in Osu. The event which started about 10:00am on Wednesday April 27, 2022 drew hundreds of students and non-students to the venue.
Blood is the most important component of human life. It is an inhuman bodily fluid that transports essential substances to the cells such as nutrients and oxygen. Blood is a transport liquid that is pumped by the heart (or an equivalent structure) to all parts of the body and then returned to the heart to repeat the process. However, it is never enough in the hospital.
As part of the DSP social responsibility activities, the blood donation exercise was organized to assist NBS in meeting its long-term goal of 100% voluntary blood donations while also saving lives.

The event went off without a hitch. The National Blood Service, Ghana, exhibited exceptional professionalism by ensuring that all donors donated safely without any negative implications and those who were unable to donate were counselled. Hundreds of people from all walks of life attended the event with donors donating to save lives.
The event also demonstrated how the party takes into consideration the importance of health and how the lives of the people in this country matter. It also gave the research department, led by Director of Research, Eric Crentsil, and the manifesto drafting committee team an opportunity to engage citizens on their health and safety concerns as they prepare to implement the "Nkwa Hia" health policy outlined in our manifesto.

In an interview with Republic Media, Presidential Candidate for DSP, Osman Abubakari-Sadiq, expressed his gratitude to the donors and everyone involved in the exercise, promising to address their concerns about the health sector. He stated, "I am overwhelmed by the number of people who came out to support us today as we donated blood to save lives. There is never enough blood in our hospital, so it is critical that every citizen who is able to donate blood do so in order to help save lives in our hospital. I would also like to take this opportunity to assure all those who have expressed concerns about our country's health-care system that we have heard them and will address all of the issues raised in our manifesto "
Nana Bempong Amankwah, the DSP's national organizer, thanked the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) for donating just two packs of bottled water to the blood donation exercise after the party made significant contributions to their Girl Child and Dzorwulu Special School fundraising campaign. He said, "We are pleased that your party recognizes the importance of supporting a great course. We appreciate the thoughtful gesture, and I urge your party to continue to improve the lives of citizens even if they are not in power."
